Building Relationships in the Community with Police Chief Todd Thomas
In the Fox Valley, Appleton Police are joining with a local church congregation to improve relations.
"I want to hear from you. I want to hear what your questions and concerns are," says Appleton Police Chief, Todd Thomas.
Chief Thomas, showed up to Family First Ministries Wednesday night, to hear residents' concerns, but also to work on building meaningful relationships with minority community members.
"We have an opportunity here to do some proactive things to prohibit Madison from taking place here in Appleton," says Family First Ministries Sr. Pastor, Alvin Dupree.
Community members who showed up to voice their concerns, focused on how police deal with children, in and out of schools.
They also questioned Chief Thomas, about how to make sure officers are held accountable for their actions.
Members of the congregation say the discussion was a successful stepping-stone in improving race relations.
